Bishop class guide (Human) — strengths, skills and step-by-step

The Bishop is the heart that keeps the group alive: it heals, resurrects and protects allies while still casting magic. See why this is the server's most beloved support class.

by admin 6 min read

In short: The Bishop is the holy healer of Lineage 2: it keeps the group alive with powerful heals and even resurrects fallen allies. It is perfect for anyone who enjoys being the essential piece that decides whether the party lives or dies.

Imagine being the person everyone turns to when health is running out. The Bishop is not the hero who lands the final blow, but the one who makes sure the final blow happens. It walks behind the front line, dressed in white robes, radiating divine light that heals wounds and brings the dead back to life.

Playing a Bishop is an experience of reading and timing. You watch your allies' health bars, anticipate danger and release the heal at exactly the right moment. Once you master this, you become the most invited player to the server's groups and raids.

The Bishop is the middle stage of one of the most classic journeys in the game: Human Mystic (Starter) → Cleric (1st Class) → Bishop (2nd Class). With each profession you gain stronger heals and new support tools.

Strengths

  • Enormous mana (top 100% on the server) — with around 1847 MP at level 85, the Bishop has plenty of fuel to heal nonstop. In practice, this means you rarely run out of mana in the middle of a long fight.
  • Very high magic power (INT in the top 89%) — with 41 INT, your heals and spells deliver far more. Every spell you cast carries weight, whether to save an ally or to deal damage.
  • Healing for the whole group — abilities like Group Heal restore the health of the entire party at once. This is what turns a tough fight into an easy win.
  • Resurrecting fallen allies — the Bishop can bring companions back to life with Resurrection. In raids and dangerous zones, this saves time and keeps the group from falling apart.
  • Good magic defense (mDef 41) — you hold up well against monsters' magic damage, which helps you survive while caring for others.
  • Enemy control — spells like Sleep and Weakness leave a monster weaker or asleep, giving the group room to regroup.

Weaknesses

  • Low speed (only 11% on the server) — with 124 run speed, the Bishop is slow to position and to flee. Tip: always stay behind the front line and use speed buffs when available.
  • Little dexterity (DEX at the bottom, 17%) — your hit and physical critical chance are weak. Tip: don't try to hit the monsters; leave the damage to the attackers and focus on magic.
  • Almost no physical strength (STR just 22%) — striking with your weapon barely hurts anyone. Tip: invest everything in magic tools and heals, never in melee combat.
  • Fragile early on — with little health at the first levels, you die fast if you draw the monsters. Tip: use auto-hunt in zones at your level and heal yourself constantly.

Class-defining skills

  • Heal — your main single-target heal. Use it to keep the tank or attacker alive during long fights.
  • Group Heal — heals the whole party at once. Save it for moments when several allies take damage at the same time.
  • Battle Heal — a quick heal made for the heat of battle. Perfect when someone needs health immediately and there is no time to lose.
  • Self Heal — heals yourself. Essential while leveling alone with auto-hunt.
  • Resurrection — brings a dead ally back. It is the skill that gets the Bishop invited to every raid.
  • Sleep — puts an enemy to sleep (crowd control), taking it out of the fight for a while. Great for neutralizing a dangerous monster.
  • Weakness — weakens the enemy's physical attack (debuff). It reduces the damage it deals to your group.
  • Divine Strike — a spell of holy damage (magic damage). Use it to help kill monsters when nobody needs healing.
  • Benediction — a blessing of protection that helps the group endure critical moments.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Bishop lives on magic, so everything revolves around INT and MEN. You want strong heals and endless mana to sustain the group from the start to the end of the fight.

  • INT (magic power) — your number one priority; it increases how much your heals and spells deliver.
  • MEN (mana) — second priority; it ensures you never run out of MP to heal.
  • WIT (cast speed) — useful for releasing heals faster in tight moments.
  • CON (health) — a little helps you avoid dying easily, but never above magic.

As a magic class, the Bishop uses robe-type armor, which reinforces magic defense and mana regeneration — exactly what a healer needs. Your weapon should focus on magic power (m.Atk), not physical damage.

Early on, always prioritize the weapon, since it defines the strength of your spells and heals. Then improve the armor to survive longer. Keep everything updated as you level up.

Beginner step-by-step

  1. Create the character — choose the Human race and start as a Human Mystic, the starting point of the Bishop's path.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area — they teach the basics and give equipment, Adena and experience to start off well.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt — the character farms by itself on monsters at your level, gaining experience even when you are not watching the screen.
  4. Follow the professions in order — Human Mystic → Cleric (1st) → Bishop (2nd). With each change you gain stronger heals and more usefulness to the group.
  5. Prioritize the right skills — always learn and use the heals (Heal, Group Heal, Battle Heal) and Resurrection. Keep Sleep and Weakness for control.
  6. Gather Adena and L-Coin — sell items that drop and complete missions; use this money to buy weapons, armor and consumables.
  7. Keep weapon and armor updated — good equipment is what most increases the strength of your heals and your survival.
  8. Practice heal timing — watch your allies' health bars and heal before the danger, not after. That is what separates a good Bishop from a great one.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt on monsters at your level — the safest way to level alone, healing yourself while you fight.
  • Move up to harder zones as you grow — the stronger you get, the more worthwhile it is to face enemies that give more experience and drops.
  • Join a party for raids and bosses — this is where the Bishop shines; your healing and resurrection are indispensable in these fights.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions — constant sources of rewards, experience and useful items.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Trying to fight in melee — the Bishop is physically weak; focus on magic and healing, not on hitting.
  • Forgetting to heal yourself — many beginners only watch their allies and die alone; Self Heal exists for a reason.
  • Wasting mana — even with lots of MP, casting spells needlessly leaves you without fuel at the critical moment.
  • Standing on the front line — your speed and physical defense are low; always stay behind, protected by the party.

This is for you if…

  • You like being essential — you love the feeling of being the piece that keeps the whole group alive.
  • You prefer supporting over shining alone — you enjoy teamwork more than showing off the biggest damage.
  • You like reading and timing — you prefer to think and anticipate rather than just press attack buttons.
