In short: The Death Messenger (E) is a melee warrior of the Death Knight line — fast and full of life — who charges into the front line and keeps hitting. It is perfect for beginners who want a class that is direct, durable and fun to farm with.
Picture a knight touched by death, one who fears no fall because he has already faced the worst. The Death Messenger fights up close, with quick strikes and a body that is hard to bring down.
In practice, playing him feels great: you dash across the map, reach monsters before they flee, and hold off several enemies at once. It is a class that rewards anyone who enjoys constant action and little complication.

The Death Messenger is the third step of the Death Knight journey. The progression goes like this: Death Pilgrim (E) (Starter) → Death Blade (E) (1st Class) → Death Messenger (E) (2nd Class). Each step makes the character stronger and unlocks new skills.
Strengths
- Very high Dexterity (DEX 35). It is one of the highest attributes among all classes (top 4% of the server). That means more chance to hit and more critical strikes — in other words, consistent damage that rarely misses the target.
- Lots of health (4017 HP at level 85). It is among the 20% sturdiest in the game. You can take plenty of hits before needing to heal, which is great for farming solo without dying.
- High movement speed (139). Among the fastest on the server. You catch monsters trying to flee, switch targets in the blink of an eye, and waste less time walking.
- Solid physical defense (80 base P.Def). Combined with the high HP, it lets you withstand the physical attacks of melee monsters, which make up most enemies in the early zones.
- Its own buff kit. The class carries skills to boost movement speed, attack speed and even health and mana regeneration, so you depend less on other players to get by.
Weaknesses
- Low magic power (INT 20). It sits at the bottom of the chart (28%). Your magic skills hit weakly, so do not count on them for damage — focus on physical attack. Tip: invest in physical gear and keep magic only as utility (buffs and debuffs).
- Short range. Being melee, you need to be right next to the enemy to deal damage. Against archers and mages, that becomes a problem. Tip: use your high speed to close the distance fast and stick to them.
- Low mana (1385 MP at level 85). The mana pool is not large, so use your skills wisely. Tip: keep mana regeneration active and carry MP potions in your auto-supply.
Class-defining skills
- Punishment — a strong physical strike (an attack that deals extra damage on top of the normal hit). It is your main attack skill to open a fight and drop enemies faster.
- Haste — a buff that speeds up attack speed. Always turn it on before farming: you hit more times per second and kill much faster.
- Wind Walk — a movement speed buff. Keep it active to dash across the map, catch fleeing targets, and travel between zones with agility.
- Recover HP — a heal over time (it slowly restores your health). Use it during fights to reduce the need for healing potions.
- Recover MP — restores mana over time. Essential so you do not run out of mana while casting your skills while farming.
- Berserker Spirit — a fury buff that increases your damage in exchange for a bit of defense. Turn it on when you want to clear monsters faster and you are comfortable on health.
- Wild Magic — a buff that increases magic critical chance. Useful to give an extra push to your skills with a magic effect.
- Bone Cage — a debuff that traps the enemy (a bone prison that holds the target). Great to stop dangerous monsters or players from fleeing from you.
- Slowdown — a debuff that reduces the target's speed. Use it to keep enemies from escaping while you close in to hit them.
Attributes: what to prioritize
The Death Messenger is a pure physical class, so everything revolves around hitting hard, always landing, and not dying. You do not need to worry about magic power — it comes low on purpose and is not the focus of the class.
- STR (Strength): your main source of physical damage. The higher it is, the stronger each blow.
- DEX (Dexterity): increases critical and accuracy. The class is already strong here, so favor gear that reinforces it even more.
- CON (Constitution): gives more health and resistance. Keeps you alive while farming and in party.
- MEN (Mentality): helps your mana pool. Useful to hold more skills before needing to recharge.
Recommended equipment
Since the weapon is the FIST type (fists/blades), look to equip the right melee weapon for this style and always keep it at the highest level you can. The weapon is what changes your damage the most, so it is the first upgrade priority.
Use heavy armor: it matches the combat archetype and increases your physical defense, pairing perfectly with the class's high HP. After the weapon, improve the armor and only then accessories. Do not stockpile magic gear — for you, physical attributes are always worth more.
Beginner step-by-step
- Create the character. Choose the Death Knight race and start as Death Pilgrim (E). It is the starting point of the line that becomes the Death Messenger.
- Do the first quests of the starting area. They give XP, basic gear and teach the controls. Do not skip them — it is easy money and levels early on.
- Turn on auto-hunt. With it, the character farms on its own against monsters of your level: it attacks, walks and uses skills automatically. It is the main way to level up in Essence, ideal for progressing while you sort out the rest.
- Follow the professions base → 1st → 2nd → 3rd. Evolve from Death Pilgrim (E) to Death Blade (E) and then Death Messenger (E). Each change unlocks new skills and makes the character noticeably stronger.
- Prioritize the right skills and buffs. Always turn on Haste and Wind Walk before farming, use Punishment to open fights, and keep Recover HP and Recover MP to sustain yourself solo.
- Gather Adena. It is the game's basic currency, used to buy and upgrade equipment. Sell what drops and complete quests that give Adena.
- Gather L-Coin. It is the server's special currency, used in shops and important upgrades. You earn it by farming and completing activities — it is worth stockpiling.
- Keep weapon and armor up to date. Whenever possible, raise your weapon's level first and then your armor. Outdated gear is what stalls your progress the most.
Where to farm
- Auto-hunt on monsters of your level. Leave the character farming on enemies that match your level to earn XP and drops in a steady, safe way.
- Move up to harder zones as you evolve. As you gain levels and improve your gear, seek out stronger areas — they give more XP and better rewards.
- Form a party for raids and bosses. In a group you can take down big enemies that would be tough solo, and you earn more valuable rewards.
- Use the Season Pass and daily missions. They are steady sources of XP, Adena and items. Complete them every day to progress faster with no extra effort.
Common beginner mistakes
- Forgetting to turn on buffs. Farming without Haste and Wind Walk wastes much of the class's potential. Always activate them before you start.
- Trying to use magic damage. With low INT, your magic skills hit weakly. Focus on physical attack and use magic only as support.
- Letting gear fall behind. Leveling up without upgrading the weapon stalls your damage. The weapon always comes first in upgrades.
- Ignoring mana. With limited MP, wasting skills leaves you out of resources. Keep Recover MP active and carry potions in your auto-supply.
This is for you if…
- You like melee action. You want to be in the thick of the fight, hitting up close and not standing still calculating.
- You prefer a simple, durable class. You enjoy a character that soaks up damage and forgives beginner mistakes.
- You want to farm solo with ease. You like progressing at your own pace, with auto-hunt and little dependence on other players.
