Dreadnought class guide (Human) — strengths, skills and step-by-step
The Dreadnought is the offensive tank of the human line: huge HP, spear reach and war cries that crush entire packs of monsters.
In short: The Dreadnought is a frontline human warrior who trades finesse for pure toughness and area damage. It's the perfect pick for anyone who wants to dive into the middle of the fight, soak up hits and still dominate groups of enemies.
Picture a soldier who never backs down. The Dreadnought is exactly that: the bruiser of the Human race, a spear specialist who'd rather plunge into the chaos than wait on the sidelines.
Playing a Dreadnought has a really satisfying "I'm hard to kill" feel. You get a huge health bar, strikes that hit several enemies at once, and war cries that make you (and your allies) stronger. It's the ideal class for beginners who want something straightforward: hit hard, take a beating and not worry too much about positioning.
Overview
| Profile | |

| Race | Human |
| Archetype | Melee combat |
| Playstyle | Offensive tank |
| Difficulty | Easy |
| Main weapon | Spear (extended reach) |
| Position in the line | 3rd Class |
The Dreadnought is the final point of the heavy-warrior line for Humans. The full path is: Human Fighter (Starter) → Warrior (1st Class) → Warlord (2nd Class) → Dreadnought (3rd Class).
Strengths
- Extremely high toughness (CON 43) — this is the class's strongest attribute and it means a gigantic health bar (nearly 3,917 HP at level 85). In practice, you die far less and can farm alone with ease.
- Brute force (STR 40) — the second-highest attribute guarantees heavy hits with every attack. Each blow really hurts, which greatly speeds up taking monsters down.
- Area damage with spear reach — the spear hits several enemies at once and from a greater range than an ordinary sword. This turns crowds of monsters, which would normally be a problem, into your best source of experience.
- Good dexterity (DEX 30) — above-average dexterity improves your accuracy and critical hit chance. In plain terms: you miss fewer blows and land some extra-strong hits now and then.
- Solid physical defense (pDef 80) — combined with the huge health pool, your heavy armor absorbs a lot of physical damage. You become a walking wall that's hard to break.
- Self-sufficiency — the class brings its own buffs (speed, faster attacks, health regeneration), so you depend less on other players to stay strong.
Weaknesses
- Almost no magic (INT 21) — the Dreadnought is a pure warrior and its magic damage is irrelevant. Tip: don't even try to invest in magic; focus 100% on physical attack, which is where the class shines.
- Low magic defense (mDef 41) — enemies that cast spells can hurt you quite a bit. Tip: use jewels and accessories that boost magic resistance and focus on taking down casters first.
- Weak casting speed and mana (WIT 11) — your buffs and abilities "come out" slowly and you don't have much mana. Tip: always keep mana potions and activate buffs at the start of the fight, not in the heat of it.
- Has to get close — being melee, you're always in the enemy's face and take damage directly. Tip: lean on your high health and area strikes to make up for it — the secret is to bring the fight to you, not run from it.
Class-defining skills
- Power Strike — a strong single-target physical strike. Use it to open the fight or to finish off that tougher monster that's left standing.
- Mortal Blow — a "sure hit" (a high, concentrated physical strike). Great for a damage spike when you need to take something down fast.
- Wild Sweep — a physical area attack that hits several enemies at once. It's the heart of your farming in monster groups.
- Spear Howl — the class's signature physical strike that uses the spear's reach. Perfect for hitting as many enemies around you as possible.
- War Cry — a battle cry that increases your attack power. Activate it at the start of tougher fights to hit even harder.
- Haste — a buff that speeds up your attack rate. More hits per second means monsters dropping faster.
- Wind Walk — a buff that increases your movement speed. You move faster between monster groups and escape danger better.
- Recover HP — health regeneration over time (gradual healing). It keeps you on your feet during long farms without having to stop.
- Bandage — removes bleeds and similar negative effects. Use it when an enemy leaves you "bleeding" so you don't lose health bit by bit.
Attributes: what to prioritize
The Dreadnought is a classic physical warrior, so everything revolves around hitting hard and taking the punishment. You'll never want to invest in magic attributes.
- CON (toughness) — your greatest strength. More CON = more health = you die less and farm safely.
- STR (strength) — increases your physical damage. It's what makes your blows truly hurt.
- DEX (dexterity) — improves accuracy and crit chance, so you miss less and land extra-strong hits.
- INT and WIT — you can ignore them. These are mage attributes and are useless for this class.
Recommended gear
Always use a spear (an extended-reach weapon) as your main weapon — it's what defines the class's area combat style. For armor, go with heavy armor, which matches the Dreadnought's high health and physical defense and turns you into a wall.
What to upgrade first: prioritize the weapon, because more damage means monsters dropping faster and more efficient farming. Then reinforce the armor to survive more dangerous zones. Jewels and accessories with magic resistance are a great complement to cover your weak spot.
Beginner step-by-step
- Create the character — choose the Human race and the starting warrior class (Human Fighter). This is where the entire Dreadnought line begins.
- Do the first quests in the starting area — they give you basic gear, a bit of Adena and teach you the basics of the game. Don't skip this part.
- Turn on auto-hunt — this feature makes your character farm on its own in zones at your level, attacking monsters and collecting items automatically. It's the most practical way to level up in Essence.
- Follow the professions in order — you progress from Starter → 1st Class (Warrior) → 2nd Class (Warlord) → 3rd Class (Dreadnought). Each change grants new skills and makes you much stronger; make the switch as soon as your level allows.
- Prioritize buffs and area strikes — learn and always keep Haste, War Cry and Wind Walk active, and use Wild Sweep and Spear Howl to farm groups. These are what multiply your efficiency.
- Gather Adena and L-Coin — sell what drops, complete missions and use auto-hunt to stockpile these currencies, which you'll spend on potions, gear and upgrades.
- Keep weapon and armor up to date — as you level up, swap for better gear. Running around with weak gear stalls your progress and leaves you fragile.
- Use potions and regeneration on long farms — keep health and mana potions handy and activate Recover HP. That way you farm longer without dying or having to return to town.
Where to farm
- Auto-hunt on monsters at your level — leave your character farming in zones matched to your level to gain experience steadily and safely.
- Move up to harder zones as you grow — when your gear and level improve, switch to more dangerous areas, where monsters give more experience and better drops.
- Form a party for raids and bosses — team up with other players to face bosses; your high health makes the Dreadnought a great choice for holding the enemy's aggro.
- Use the Season Pass and daily missions — they're constant sources of extra rewards that greatly speed up your progression.
Common beginner mistakes
- Investing in magic attributes — it's a total waste. The Dreadnought doesn't use magic, so every point outside STR/CON/DEX is thrown away.
- Forgetting to activate buffs — entering a fight without Haste, War Cry and Wind Walk makes you far weaker than you actually are. Turn everything on before you start.
- Ignoring magic defense — since your mDef is low, facing casters with no magic resistance can kill you fast. Make it a priority to take them down first.
- Fighting one enemy at a time — the class's strength is area damage. Pulling several monsters at once (carefully) is far more efficient than hunting them one by one.
It's for you if…
- You like being hard to kill and prefer to soak up hits rather than flee from them.
- You want a straightforward, easy-to-learn class with no complicated mechanics.
- You enjoy dominating groups of enemies and farming crowds with area strikes.
