In short: The Elven Knight is an elven melee knight, focused on speed, defense and holding the monsters' attention. It's ideal for anyone who wants a tough, easy-to-play warrior that protects their companions.

Picture a swift elf, lightly armored and with quick reflexes, who steps onto the front line without fear. The Elven Knight isn't the server's biggest damage dealer, but it's the one that stays standing when the fight gets tough — and that's worth gold in a party.

Playing an Elven Knight feels like control: you run fast, take hits, get in the enemies' way, and buy time for your allies to do the work. It's a great entry point for anyone just starting out in Lineage II Essence.

The Elven Knight is part of the elven warrior line. The path is: Elven Fighter (Starter) → Elven Knight (1st Class). In other words, you begin as a basic elven fighter and, as you advance professions, you specialize into the defensive knight role.

Strengths

  • Very high speed — with a run speed of 143 (among the best on the server), you catch enemies, escape danger and reposition far faster than most classes. In practice, you never get "stuck" on the battlefield.
  • Excellent Dexterity (DEX) — your DEX of 35 sits at the top of the server, which improves critical hit chance and accuracy. You miss fewer hits and land more critical surprises in your favor.
  • Solid physical defense — with a base physical defense of 80, you take melee monster hits well. That's what lets you stand in front of the party without dropping constantly.
  • Complete tank kit — you have skills to raise defense, draw enemy attention, and protect yourself in emergencies. That makes you the group's "shield," a role that's always in demand in raids.
  • Mobility and attack buffs — abilities that increase movement and attack speed make you even more agile and efficient, whether farming solo or in a group.

Weaknesses

  • Very low mana — your MP at level 85 sits around 975, among the lowest on the server. Tip: save expensive skills, use MP potions and keep mana auto-use on so you don't run dry mid-fight.
  • Modest HP for a tank — with about 3,124 HP at level 85, you're not the "beefiest" defender. Tip: invest in CON and armor, and always keep an HP potion ready.
  • Limited damage — the Elven Knight wasn't built to kill fast; its base physical attack is low. Tip: embrace the durability role and play in a party, where others deal the damage while you hold the front.

Class-defining skills

  • Power Strike — a strong one-handed physical strike. It's your basic attack to open a fight and keep pressure on monsters.
  • Mortal Blow — a precise, high-damage strike (a "blow," a critical physical hit). Use it when you want to tear a big chunk off the enemy's health.
  • Power Shot — another impactful physical strike, useful for varying your rotation and keeping the damage flowing.
  • Majesty — a buff that boosts your defensive presence and helps keep monsters attacking you (instead of your allies). Turn it on at the start of group fights.
  • Ultimate Defense — an emergency buff that spikes your defense way up for a while. Save it for when you're taking too much damage and need to survive.
  • Shield Mastery — improves your shield use, raising your chance to block attacks. It's an essential part of your tank role.
  • Recover HP — a heal over time (health that comes back little by little). Great for sustaining yourself while farming without burning so many potions.
  • Wind Walk — a movement speed buff; it makes you even faster at reaching and chasing enemies.
  • Haste — a buff that reduces the time between your attacks, meaning you strike faster. Keep it on in any long fight.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Elven Knight is born with great DEX and speed, so your focus should be covering its weaknesses: health and mana. Prioritize survivability first, then what improves your strikes.

  • CON (Constitution) — increases health and resistance; it's what helps you most to endure on the front line.
  • DEX (Dexterity) — improves critical and accuracy; it's already your strong point, so keep it high to keep landing hits.
  • STR (Strength) — increases your physical damage; good so you're not totally harmless while holding the front.
  • MEN (Mentality) — helps with mana, which is your Achilles' heel; a little here keeps you from running out of MP too soon.

As a melee warrior, you want a short-impact weapon (fists/blades) and, above all, heavy armor with a shield — that's what sustains your tank role. The heavy armor + shield combo maximizes your physical defense, which is your biggest advantage.

What to upgrade first: focus on raising your armor and shield before the weapon, since your job is to last in the fight. Then improve the weapon gradually. Keep your enchantments (refinements) up to date as you gather Adena and materials.

Step by step for beginners

  1. Create the character — choose the Elf race and the starter elven fighter class. Early on all fighters are similar; the specialization comes at the 1st profession.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area — they give experience, basic gear, and teach the basics of movement, attacking and using skills.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt — auto-hunt makes your character farm by itself on monsters of your level, attacking and using skills automatically. It's the backbone of progress in Essence; let it run while you learn the rest.
  4. Follow the professions — you go from Starter → 1st Class (Elven Knight) → and beyond. Each profession grants new skills and makes you stronger; make the switch as soon as the level unlocks.
  5. Prioritize the right skills — always keep your defense, speed (Wind Walk) and attack (Haste) buffs active, and use Majesty to hold the monsters. Save Ultimate Defense for emergencies.
  6. Gather Adena and L-Coin — Adena comes from farming and selling drops; L-Coin comes from missions, events and the Season Pass. Use both to buy potions, gear and upgrades.
  7. Keep weapon and armor updated — as you level up, swap for better gear and enchant what you have. Having gear at your level is what separates easy farming from painful farming.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt on monsters of your level — always farm in zones suited to your level; it's the safest and most efficient way to gain experience.
  • Move up to harder zones as you grow — when your current monsters give little experience, switch to stronger areas to keep progressing well.
  • Party up for raids and bosses — this is where the Elven Knight shines: by holding the front, you help the group take down bosses that give great rewards.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions — they're steady sources of experience, Adena and L-Coin; do them every day to greatly speed up your growth.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Trying to play as a damage dealer — the Elven Knight doesn't kill fast; insisting on focusing damage only frustrates you. Embrace the tank role.
  • Ignoring mana — with low MP, spending skills carelessly leaves you dry at the worst moment. Use MP potions and keep auto-use on.
  • Forgetting to turn on your buffs — without speed, attack and defense active, you lose much of your strength. Check your buffs before every fight.
  • Neglecting armor — your survival depends on defensive gear; playing with old armor undermines your whole tank purpose.

This is for you if…

  • You like being on the front line protecting others, instead of attacking from afar.
  • You prefer a tough, easy-to-play character that forgives beginner mistakes.
  • You enjoy playing in a group and being the piece that keeps the party alive in tough fights.
