Human Wizard class guide (Human) — strengths, skills and step-by-step

The Human Wizard is the pure-damage caster of Lineage II Essence: devastating ranged spells and the highest magic power among starter classes. Perfect for anyone who wants big numbers on screen.

by admin 7 min read

In short: The Human Wizard is the classic offensive mage, blasting enemies with long-range spells before they can get close. It is the perfect class for anyone who loves dealing heavy ranged damage and prefers magic to a sword.

Imagine standing at a safe distance, raising your hands, and conjuring a fireball out of thin air. That is exactly the Human Wizard fantasy. You do not charge into the brawl: you stay back, calm, and let each spell do the heavy lifting.

It is a class that rewards players who learn to position well and pick the right spell at the right moment. Early on you feel fragile, but as your spells grow stronger, you become a true tower of damage.

Overview

Profile
Race Human
Archetype Ranged caster
Playstyle Magic damage
Difficulty Medium
Main weapon Fists/blades (the focus is magic, not the physical hit)
Position in the line 1st Class

The Human Wizard is part of the human mage line: Human Mystic (Starter) → Human Wizard (1st Class). In other words, you begin as a magic apprentice, and the Wizard is the first step in a damage-mage career.

Strengths

  • Very high magic power (INT 41) — It is the highest magic stat among starter classes (top 89%). In practice, this means your spells hit MUCH harder than almost anyone else's at your level.
  • Ranged damage — You attack from afar, so you take little damage while you destroy the enemy. Used well, the monster dies before it even reaches you.
  • Multiple attack elements — You have fire, wind, and ice. This gives you flexibility to pick the ideal spell for each situation and avoid standing idle waiting for a cooldown.
  • Self-sufficiency with self-healing — You learn to heal yourself, which helps a lot when you are farming solo and take unexpected damage.
  • Field control with debuffs — Your ice and weakening spells make the enemy slower and weaker, giving you time and safety to keep attacking.

Weaknesses

  • Very low health — It is one of the lowest-HP classes in the game (bottom tier). If an enemy gets close, you go down fast — so avoid being surrounded and keep your distance.
  • Limited mana — Your spells cost mana and it runs out (also in the bottom tier). Carry mana-recovery items and do not waste expensive spells on weak monsters.
  • Low speed (bottom 11%) — You run slowly, which makes it hard to flee from whatever catches you. Use your speed buffs and plan your route before advancing.
  • Fragile early on — Before your spells get strong, you feel made of paper. Tip: focus on leveling up calmly and prioritize defensive gear early.

Class-defining skills

  • Fireball — Your basic fire spell for magic damage (MDAM = magic damage). It is your main attack early on: aim and fire.
  • Wind Strike — Another magic-damage spell, this time wind. It works as an alternative to rotate while Fireball is on cooldown.
  • Ice Bolt — Ice magic damage that also slows the enemy down (speed_down). Excellent for stopping a monster from reaching you.
  • Blaze — A stronger fire spell you learn later. It becomes your new main attack because it hits harder than Fireball.
  • Self Heal / Battle Heal — Heals that restore your health (HEAL). Use Battle Heal in an emergency mid-fight so you do not die.
  • Acumen — A buff (temporary boost) that reduces casting time (casting_time_down): you cast spells faster, meaning more damage per second.
  • Wild Magic — A buff that raises your magic critical chance (magic_critical_up). Crits double the damage, so it is free damage kept on at all times.
  • Magic Barrier — A buff that raises your magic defense (md_up). Turn it on before facing enemies that also use magic.
  • Wind Walk — A movement speed buff (speed_up). It helps offset your slow run and keep your distance.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Human Wizard lives and dies by magic, so everything revolves around boosting magic damage and surviving long enough to use it. Focus on what makes your spells hit harder and faster.

  • INT (magic power) — The most important stat. Each point makes your spells deal more damage. It is your number-one priority.
  • WIT (casting speed) — Makes you cast spells faster, meaning more damage in the same amount of time.
  • MEN (mana) — Increases your mana pool, letting you cast longer before you need to recover.
  • CON (health) — A little CON helps you avoid dying so easily, since your health is naturally low.

Since the focus is magic, you want a magic weapon (one that boosts spell damage and mana, not the physical hit). For armor, use light/robe mage pieces — they grant mana and casting bonuses and do not get in the way of your spells.

The upgrade priority is simple: first the magic weapon (because its damage multiplies all your spells), then the armor so you stay alive longer. Whenever you can, swap for a better version of the same type as you level up.

Step-by-step for beginners

  1. Create the character — Pick the Human race and the starter mage class (Human Mystic). You will evolve into the Wizard later.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area — They teach the basics and give you gear, mana items, and Adena to start off well.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt — This feature makes your character farm on its own, automatically attacking monsters at your level. It is the main way to level up in Essence, so keep it on while you grow.
  4. Follow the professions — You start as a Starter, become a 1st Class (Wizard), and later advance to 2nd and 3rd Class over the course of the game. Each change unlocks stronger spells and more options.
  5. Prioritize the right spells and buffs — Keep your strongest damage spell as your main attack and always keep your magic-crit (Wild Magic) and casting-speed (Acumen) buffs on.
  6. Gather Adena and L-Coin — Adena comes from farming and selling items; L-Coin comes from missions and the Season Pass. Use both to buy weapon, armor, and mana items.
  7. Keep weapon and armor updated — Set aside part of your Adena to always carry gear at your level. Weak weapon = weak spells.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt on monsters at your level — The safest way to level: leave auto-hunt running against enemies suited to your level.
  • Move to harder zones as you evolve — When monsters start giving little experience, switch to a stronger area to keep growing fast.
  • Party up for raids and bosses — In a group you take on big enemies that give better rewards, and you are safer with allies in front of you.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions — They are guaranteed sources of XP, Adena, and L-Coin every day.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Letting the enemy get close — Your health is extremely low; melee fighting is a recipe to die. Always attack from a distance.
  • Spending all your mana with no recovery — Without mana you are defenseless. Carry mana items and do not waste expensive spells on weak monsters.
  • Ignoring buffs — Playing without Wild Magic and Acumen is playing at half damage. Turn them on before every farm.
  • Not replacing the magic weapon — Keeping an old weapon caps your damage. Upgrade the weapon as soon as you can.

This class is for you if…

  • You love seeing big numbers — The Wizard has the highest magic power among starters and delivers spells that wreck.
  • You prefer attacking from afar — If the idea of staying safe in the back while the enemy melts appeals to you, this is the class.
  • You like to think before you act — Picking the right spell and positioning makes all the difference, and that is half the fun.
