Orc Lancer class guide (Orc Rider) — strengths, skills and step-by-step

The Orc Lancer is the Orc Rider warrior built to charge in front and hit hard. See why it's so tough, which skills define the class, and how to level from scratch.

by admin 6 min read

In short: The Orc Lancer is a melee fighter of the Orc Rider race, fast and stubbornly hard to kill. It's the ideal class for anyone who wants to dive into the middle of the fight, take hits, and farm without stress.

Picture an Orc warrior who never backs down. He's fast, has loads of stamina, and prefers to settle everything with raw force, up close. That's what playing an Orc Lancer feels like.

It's a class that forgives beginner mistakes. You rush quickly at the enemy, land blows, and rarely hit the ground before the mob does. For anyone starting out in L2 Essence, that means fewer deaths and more time leveling up.

Overview

Profile
Race Orc Rider
Archetype Melee combat
Playstyle Aggressive and tough
Difficulty Easy
Main weapon Fists / blades
Position in the line Starter

The Orc Lancer is the starting point of your evolution line: Orc Lancer (Starter). From here you follow the advanced professions and earn stronger skills at every stage.

Strengths

  • Extremely high speed (top 2% of the server): with 150 run speed, you reach any target, chase down anyone who flees, and switch mobs in a flash. This makes farming much faster.
  • Plenty of toughness (CON 45, top 4%): lots of stamina means you can take a beating before going down. Beginners make many mistakes, and this resilience covers most of them.
  • Brute strength (STR 40, top 26%): STR is what powers your physical damage. Each blow hits harder, so you kill mobs faster and feel the progress.
  • Solid physical defense (pDef 80): your natural armor absorbs most monsters' physical attacks well, which cuts the damage you take day to day.
  • Independent farming: with speed, health, and damage combined, you don't rely on anyone to level up. Turn on auto-hunt and the character handles itself.

Weaknesses

  • Low total health for level 85 (1638 HP, at the bottom of the ranking): despite the high CON, the raw health pool isn't huge. Tip: prioritize updated armor and don't take on several mobs far above your level at once.
  • Short mana (698 MP at level 85): you run out of mana if you overuse skills. Tip: weave in normal attacks between skills and keep mana potions/charges in your auto-supply.
  • Almost no magic power (INT 15, top 7%): you deal no magic damage and feel it more against enemies whose low magic defense doesn't help you. Tip: focus 100% on physical damage and ignore magic builds.
  • Very short range (25 range): it's all melee, so ranged enemies can punish you while you run up to them. Tip: use your speed to close the distance as fast as possible.

Class-defining skills

  • Blazing Fury — a fury buff that increases your offensive power. Turn it on at the start of fights to hit harder.
  • Blazing Beast — another combat buff that reinforces your melee performance. Keep it active during farm sessions.
  • Change Armor — a toggle ability that adjusts your armor stance. Use it to balance attack and defense depending on the situation.
  • Toughness — a passive that boosts your resistance. It works on its own all the time and helps you take more punishment.
  • Weapon Mastery — a passive that improves how you use your weapon, increasing the damage and efficiency of your physical blows.
  • Armor Mastery — a passive that reinforces your armor, adding extra defense without you having to do anything.
  • Iron Body — an iron-body passive that increases your durability in combat. It pairs with your frontline style.
  • Lucky — a luck passive that's very useful in the early levels, reducing penalties when you die early. A breather for those still learning.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Orc Lancer is pure muscle and stamina. Its holy trio is STR for damage, CON to endure, and DEX to land hits and crit. Magic (INT/WIT) and mana (MEN) are completely set aside.

  • STR (Strength): your main source of physical damage. Anything that raises STR raises how much you hurt.
  • CON (Constitution): gives health and survivability. It's what keeps you standing on the front line.
  • DEX (Dexterity): improves crit chance and accuracy, meaning you miss less and land heavy hits more often.
  • Ignore INT, WIT and MEN: this class doesn't live off magic, so it's not worth spending anything on these attributes.

Your weapon is for melee combat (fists/blades), so always look for the best option of that type for your level. Since you're a frontline fighter, use heavy armor to maximize physical defense.

First upgrade: swap your weapon as soon as a better one shows up, because damage solves almost everything early on. After that, keep your armor climbing in grade so you keep absorbing hits.

Beginner step-by-step

  1. Create the character: choose the Orc Rider race and the Orc Lancer class. This is the starting point of your combat journey.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area: they teach the basics and hand out equipment, adena, and useful items to start off well.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt: with it, your character farms on its own against monsters of your level, attacking and moving automatically. It's the most practical way to level up.
  4. Follow the professions in order: start at the base (Starter) and advance through the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd profession. At each stage you unlock stronger skills and become more powerful.
  5. Prioritize the right skills and passives: activate your combat buffs (Blazing Fury, Blazing Beast) and trust the passives (Toughness, Weapon Mastery, Iron Body) that work on their own.
  6. Gather Adena and L-Coin: Adena comes from farming and selling drops; L-Coin comes from missions and progress. Use these currencies to buy upgrades and supplies.
  7. Keep weapon and armor updated: whenever possible, raise the grade of your equipment. A better weapon kills faster and better armor keeps you alive.
  8. Set up auto-supply: put HP and MP potions in the automatic slots so you don't die from carelessness while farming.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt monsters of your level: this is the foundation of leveling. Leave your character farming in zones matching your level to gain XP steadily.
  • Move up to tougher zones as you evolve: when mobs become too easy, look for stronger areas to keep gaining plenty of XP.
  • Party up for raids and bosses: some bosses are too tough solo. In a group you share the danger and earn better rewards.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions: these activities give extra rewards and speed up your progress considerably.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Relying too much on CON and forgetting total health: your HP pool isn't huge, so don't take on large groups above your level.
  • Wasting mana for nothing: with little MP, overusing skills leaves you out of resources. Alternate with normal attacks and keep mana potions.
  • Neglecting the weapon upgrade: sticking with an old weapon caps your damage and slows your farm. Update whenever you can.
  • Trying magic builds: with very low INT, magic doesn't work for this class. Focus everything on physical.

This is for you if…

  • You like diving into the middle of the fight and hitting up close, without calculating from a distance.
  • You want a tough, forgiving class, ideal for learning the game without dying constantly.
  • You enjoy fast, independent farming, turning on auto-hunt and watching the character level up on its own.
