Orc Shaman class guide (Orc) — strengths, skills and step by step

Meet the Orc Shaman: the orcs' mystic support, who heals, empowers the group and even brings crowd-control magic. A complete guide for beginners.

by admin 6 min read

In short: The Orc Shaman is the orc race's support mystic, who heals allies, hands out powerful buffs and controls enemies with sleep and fear. It's perfect for players who love keeping the group alive and dictating the pace of the fight from the back.

Picture a sturdy shaman with the natural toughness of the orcs, but who trades the club for magic. The Orc Shaman stays in the rear, channeling spiritual energy to raise invisible shields over allies, speed up their attacks and drain the life of anyone who dares strike the group.

It's a class that rewards attention and timing. You're not the hero who lands the final blow, but you're the piece that decides whether the battle is won — the kind of player every group wants nearby.

Position in the line 1st Class

The Orc Shaman is the first step of the orc mystic line. The path is: Orc Mystic (Starter) → Orc Shaman (1st Class). From here you start unlocking the heal-and-buff kit that defines the class.

Strengths

  • High magic power — with INT 31 (among the highest in the game, in the top ~72% of classes), your healing and magic-damage spells carry real weight. That means stronger heals and spells that actually hurt.
  • Comfortable mana pool — thanks to very high MEN (42), you cast for longer without running dry mid-fight, something essential for a healer.
  • Crowd-control kit — sleep, fear and root let you lock down monsters and buy time, which protects the whole group and prevents silly deaths.
  • Game-changing buffs — you speed up attacks, boost casting speed and grant combat fury to allies, making the entire group perform far better.
  • Typical orc toughness — with CON 31, the Shaman takes more hits than the frail mystics of other races, so it survives a slip-up better.

Weaknesses

  • Low HP in absolute terms — even as an orc, your HP bar (around 3,372 at level 85) sits at the bottom of the chart. Stay behind the melee fighters and never pull the monster first.
  • Average movement speed — at 128 speed you're a bit slow to flee. Use your own speed buff and stick close to the group so you don't fall behind.
  • Weak direct damage alone — your physical attack is almost nothing (pAtk 3); you weren't made to kill fast without help. Rely on auto-hunt and the group for heavy damage.
  • Depends on mana for everything — without mana you become a defenseless target. Carry mana potions and enable auto-refill so you never hit zero.

Class-defining skills

  • Battle Cry — a war cry that strengthens allies' fighting spirit. Use it at the start of fights to make the group stronger.
  • Recover HP — heal over time (it regenerates health bit by bit over several seconds). Great for keeping allies up without spending mana every second.
  • Life Rescue — a direct, instant heal. Save it for emergencies, when an ally is about to fall.
  • Vortex of Fire — magic damage (a fire spell that hurts the enemy). Your main way to contribute damage at range.
  • Dreaming Spirit — puts the enemy to sleep, taking it out of the fight temporarily. Use it to neutralize a dangerous monster while the group focuses another.
  • Fear — makes the enemy flee in terror. Perfect for creating distance when something gets on top of you.
  • Chant of Haste — a buff that reduces the time between attacks, meaning allies attack faster.
  • Chant of Wind Walk — a buff that raises the whole group's movement speed, great for traveling and for escaping.
  • Chant of Acumen — a buff that reduces casting time, making the group's mages cast spells faster.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Orc Shaman is a caster, so everything that matters revolves around magic and mana. You want to cast strong heals, often, without running out of energy.

  • INT (magic power) — your number one priority. Increases the strength of heals and magic damage.
  • MEN (mana) — pool and magic resistance. The more you have, the longer you can sustain the group without stopping.
  • WIT (casting speed) — helps you cast heals and controls faster, which saves lives in emergencies.
  • CON (HP) — a bit of survivability is welcome so you don't die on the first slip.

As a caster, the Orc Shaman wears robe armor (the lightest, giving the best magic bonuses). Your "weapon" is fists/blades, but the focus is always the gear's magic attribute, not the physical strike.

When upgrading, prioritize the weapon with good magic power first, then the armor to gain defense and MP. Jewels that raise INT and MEN also make a big difference.

Step by step for beginners

  1. Create the character — choose the Orc race and the mystic starting class (Orc Mystic). That's the Orc Shaman's starting point.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area — they give basic gear, some Adena and teach the controls. Don't skip this step.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt — with it the character farms on its own against monsters of its level, attacking and healing automatically. It's the main way to level up in L2 Essence.
  4. Follow the professions in order — base (starter) → 1st Class (Orc Shaman) → 2nd → 3rd. With each change you gain new skills and more power; switch as soon as your level allows.
  5. Prioritize the right skills — grab heals early (Recover HP, Life Rescue) and the speed/attack buffs. They're the heart of the class.
  6. Gather Adena and L-Coin — Adena comes from auto-hunt farming; L-Coin comes from missions, the Season Pass and events. Use them to buy consumables and improve gear.
  7. Keep weapon and armor updated — old gear stalls your progress. Replace or upgrade it whenever your level rises a lot.
  8. Always carry mana potions — enable auto-refill so you never run out of energy in the middle of a long fight.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt on monsters of your level — let the character farm on its own in zones suited to your level to climb safely.
  • Move up to harder zones as you grow — as you gain levels and gear, migrate to areas with more experience and better rewards.
  • Join a party for raids and bosses — as a support you shine in a group; raids give rewards you can't get alone.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions — they're steady sources of Adena, L-Coin and items useful for the class.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Trying to tank or pull the monster — with little HP, you die fast on the front line. Stay back and let the melee hold the aggro.
  • Forgetting to buff the group — a Shaman with no active buffs is half of what it could be. Renew the chants whenever they expire.
  • Letting mana hit zero — without mana you can't heal or control. Always carry potions and keep auto-refill on.
  • Ignoring the control skills — sleep, fear and root save the group. Use them to lock the most dangerous enemy instead of just attacking.

This class is for you if…

  • You like keeping the group alive and being the piece that decides victory behind the scenes.
  • You prefer thinking and reacting — choosing when to heal, control and buff — instead of just spamming attack.
  • You enjoy a tough but strategic character, with orc sturdiness and the versatility of magic.
