Ronin Class Guide (Samurai) — strengths, skills and step-by-step

The Ronin is the samurai warrior who wades into the middle of the fight and never leaves: sky-high HP, raw strength and an arsenal of stances for every situation. Perfect for anyone who wants to brawl head-on without fear.

by admin 7 min read

In short: The Ronin is a melee fighter of the Samurai race, with huge HP and brute strength to hold the front line. It's the ideal class for anyone who wants to charge into the fight, soak up damage and hit back with interest.

Picture a wandering armored warrior who trades blow for blow without taking a single step back. That's exactly how it feels to play a Ronin: you are the wall that keeps advancing. Where other classes pull back to heal, you stay standing, bloodied, and keep on swinging.

Even better: the Ronin has a set of "stances" that change how you fight in the middle of a battle. Want more critical hits? More defense? More speed? There's a stance for every moment. That gives a really satisfying sense of control, even for someone just starting out.

Overview

Profile
Race Samurai
Archetype Melee combat
Playstyle Aggressive tank
Difficulty Easy
Main weapon Fists / blades
Position in the line 2nd Class

The Ronin is part of the Samurai line and sits midway through your progression: Ashigaru (Starter) → Hatamoto (1st Class) → Ronin (2nd Class). In other words, you still have room to grow, but it's already a solid, complete class for farming on your own.

Strengths

  • Absurd HP (top 100%) — with around 4251 HP at level 85, the Ronin is practically a wall. In practice that means you can take several monsters hitting you at once without dying, which is perfect for solo farming with auto-hunt.
  • Brute strength (top 100%) — with STR 42, your melee blows really hurt. STR is the attribute that boosts your physical damage the most, so every Ronin strike rips a big chunk off the enemy.
  • Very fast (top 87%) — with a movement speed of 140, you catch fleeing enemies, switch targets quickly and rarely waste time chasing a mob. High speed makes farming faster and smoother.
  • A stance for every situation — the Wind, Forest, Fire and Mountain stances let you adapt the fight on the fly: more crit, more HP/mana, more speed or more defense. That makes the Ronin as flexible as few starter classes are.
  • Self-sufficient — it has skills to recover its own HP and MP, so it doesn't rely as much on potions or a party healer to keep farming.

Weaknesses

  • Very low Dexterity (only 7%) — with DEX 20, the Ronin lands fewer critical hits and is less accurate than other attacking classes. Tip: use the Wind stance to make up for crit and prioritize gear that improves accuracy and critical rate.
  • Irrelevant magic damage — the Ronin is 100% physical; magic is not its thing. Tip: don't even try to focus on INT or magic skills, pour everything into physical attack and survival.
  • Low mana — with around 1433 MP at level 85, you don't have the stamina to spam skills nonstop. Tip: keep the Forest stance active and always have MP potions on auto-use so you don't run dry mid-fight.
  • Short range — being melee, it has to be glued to the enemy, which exposes it more. Tip: use your high HP to your advantage and learn to pull monsters in close before striking.

Class-defining skills

  • Single Flash — a strong single-target physical strike. It's your main attack for dropping monsters fast, especially early on.
  • Pursuit — another physical strike, great for chasing down and finishing off enemies that try to flee.
  • Strike — a heavier physical attack you learn later (level 45), dealing big damage in one hit.
  • Wind — a stance that increases your critical hit chance. Switch it on when you want maximum damage, especially against tougher enemies.
  • Forest — a stance that boosts your HP and mana. Perfect for long farming sessions without running out of steam.
  • Fire — a stance that increases your speed. Great for reaching mobs and farming faster across a large area.
  • Mountain — a stance that increases your physical and magical defense. Use it when you're taking too much damage or facing a large group.
  • Recover HP — a gradual heal over time (healing per second). Turn it on and keep regenerating health while you fight, saving potions.
  • Recover MP — gradual mana recovery. Keeps your MP filling up little by little so you never stop using skills.

Attributes: what to prioritize

The Ronin is a class of physical damage and physical survival, so the focus is clear: hit hard and take hits. You want to maximize melee damage and HP, leaving magic completely aside.

  • STR (strength) — your number one priority, since it directly increases the physical damage of every blow.
  • CON (constitution) — strengthens your already enormous HP and makes you even harder to kill.
  • DEX (dexterity) — secondary, but worth chasing on gear, because it improves crit and accuracy (your natural weak point).
  • INT/WIT/MEN — you can ignore them; the Ronin doesn't use magic, so these attributes barely make a difference.

Since the attack type is melee, focus on close-combat weapons (blades/fists) with good physical damage. Given the class's tanky nature, use heavy armor: it grants more physical defense and matches your role of holding the front line.

First, always upgrade your weapon — it's what raises your damage the most. Then invest in armor to survive in tougher zones. Accessories that grant crit, accuracy or HP are the Ronin's best allies.

Beginner step-by-step

  1. Create the character — choose the Samurai race and start as Ashigaru, the starter class of the Ronin line.
  2. Do the first quests in the starting area — they teach the basics and already give XP, gear and useful items to start off well.
  3. Turn on auto-hunt — this feature makes your character farm on its own against monsters of your level. Leave it on while you level and progression becomes much smoother.
  4. Follow the professions in order — advance from Ashigaru (Starter) to Hatamoto (1st Class), then Ronin (2nd Class) and later the 3rd. Each change unlocks new skills and makes you stronger.
  5. Prioritize attack skills and stances — learn Single Flash early and activate the stances (Wind for crit, Forest for endurance) as the situation calls for.
  6. Keep HP and mana full — turn on Recover HP and Recover MP and put potions on auto-use so you never stop fighting.
  7. Gather Adena and L-Coin — farming with auto-hunt builds up the coins you need to buy and upgrade gear in the shop.
  8. Upgrade weapon and armor whenever you can — old gear stalls your progress; regular swaps keep farming fast and safe.

Where to farm

  • Auto-hunt on monsters of your level — the simplest and most efficient way to level up; leave the character farming on its own while you keep an eye on it.
  • Move up to tougher zones as you progress — stronger monsters give more XP and better rewards, so don't stay put in the same area.
  • Form a party for raids and bosses — in a group, the Ronin holds the front while the others deal damage, and the rewards are much bigger.
  • Use the Season Pass and daily missions — they're steady sources of XP, items and coins with little effort.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Trying to invest in magic — the Ronin is purely physical; spending points or items on INT/magic is a total waste.
  • Forgetting to activate stances — playing without a stance is playing at half power; always keep the right stance on.
  • Letting gear fall behind — without upgrading weapon and armor you get stuck; upgrade with the Adena and L-Coin you earn farming.
  • Ignoring MP recovery — without mana you stop using skills; always keep Recover MP and MP potions on hand.

This is for you if…

  • You like to dive into the middle of the fight and brawl head-on, instead of staying at a distance.
  • You want a sturdy, easy-to-play class that forgives beginner mistakes thanks to its high HP.
  • You enjoy having tactical control, switching stances as the battle demands.
