The Kamael is a race built to deal damage. It has options both for those who like to hold the front line and for those who prefer to strike from afar.
Strengths
- All-in on damage. The race is built to attack. You feel the power of your skills early on, which makes leveling more exciting.
- Combat versatility. There are melee classes and ranged classes, so you pick the approach that suits you without switching races.
- Friendly learning curve. The aggressive, direct style makes it easy to understand the basics of combat, targets, and skills — perfect for a first character.
- Great at auto-hunt. Because it hits hard and consistently, the Kamael does very well in automatic hunting, which is the most common way to level up in Essence.
Weaknesses
- Little support function. The Kamael is a combat race; it wasn't made to heal or buff the group. In a party, rely on other races for that role.
- Depends on gear and attribute. Like any damage character, it performs far better with weapons, armor, and elemental attribute kept up to date. Without that, its damage drops a lot.
- Less defensive margin for error. The aggressive style means you don't always have tools to hold on in trouble — positioning matters.
Kamael classes
The Kamael has 10 classes, organized by stages of progression. Each class below has its own detailed guide here on the blog.
Starter
- Jin Kamael Soldier — the starting point for every Kamael; here you learn the basics before choosing your path.
1st Class
- Trooper — front-line warrior, focused on melee combat.
- Warder — agile, offensive fighter geared toward quick strikes.
- Soul Finder — a path that taps into the power of souls to deal damage.
2nd Class
- Berserk — heavy melee that trades defense for raw damage.
- Soul Ranger — ranged shooter, attacking from afar with precision.
- Soul Breaker — a hybrid that mixes physical attack with soul power.
3rd Class
- Doombringer — the final evolution of devastating melee combat.
- Trickster — specialist in ranged attack and mobility.
- Soul Hound — master of soul power, with consistent damage.
How to get started
For a first character, any Kamael path works well, because the race is already friendly. If you like standing up front trading blows, aim for Trooper; if you prefer attacking from afar, the Soul Ranger path suits you better.
- Create the character by choosing the Kamael race — you start as a Jin Kamael Soldier.
- Do the starter quests. They teach the controls, give basic gear, and hand you the first levels in a guided way.
- Use auto-hunt. In Essence, much of your progression comes from automatic hunting: you mark targets, switch the mode on, and the character fights on its own while you watch and adjust.
- Make your 1st class change as soon as it unlocks, choosing the style you enjoyed most.
Common beginner mistakes
- Ignoring gear. Leveling up without swapping your weapon and armor stalls your damage. Upgrade your set whenever you can.
- Forgetting the elemental attribute. In Essence, infusing attribute into your weapon and armor makes a huge difference; don't leave it aside.
- Not using the skill bar. Hitting only with normal attacks wastes the Kamael's strength. Put your skills on the hotkeys and use them constantly.
This race is for you if…
- You want a direct, aggressive style, focused on dealing damage without much complication.
- It's your first character and you want to learn the game with a race that's easy to understand.
- You like choosing between melee and ranged without having to switch races later on.
