Inspect Player (Player Check): the complete guide
Learn how to use Inspect Player on L2 Samuray 557 to see any player's gear, enchant, gear score and history. A step-by-step guide from scratch.
Inspect Player (also called Player Check) is one of the most useful tools on the L2 Samuray server (Essence build 557). With it you open a detailed window about any other online player: the gear they wear, the enchant level of each piece, their Gear Score, their server rank, their history of obtained items and much more. This guide is written for anyone who has never used the feature — we start from the beginning, step by step.
What it is and why use it
Inspect Player shows a complete snapshot of another character's build. It is the fastest, most honest way to learn in-game. Use it to:
- Compare builds: see how top players assembled their gear and which pieces they prioritized.
- Learn from the best: discover the enchant, jewels and talismans behind a high Gear Score.
- Scout opponents: before a PvP, you can gauge an opponent's strength from their gear and Gear Score.
- Plan progression: by reading the enchant and item history, you understand the order in which it pays to upgrade.
The window is read-only. You see everything but touch nothing in the other player's inventory — it is completely safe for both sides.
How to open
Inspect Player is triggered by a voiced chat command. There is no cost, no item required and no cooldown.
Prerequisite: the Advanced Interface (AdvancedInterface) must be active on your client. If it is off, the server replies with the message "AdvancedInterface precisa estar ativo" and nothing opens. The Advanced Interface comes enabled in the official L2 Samuray client.
You have two ways to point at a target:
- By selection (target): click the player to select them, then type the command.
- By name: type the command followed by the character's exact name.
Step by step
- Find the player. The target must be online in the world. Inspect works on characters present on the server at that moment.
- Select or note the name. Click the character to set them as your target, or have the exact name ready.
- Open chat and type the command:
- With the target selected:
.inspect - By name:
.inspect PlayerName
- With the target selected:
- Press Enter. The Player Check window opens automatically, already loaded with the data and the gear.
- Explore the tabs. At the bottom of the window there are four history tabs. Click between them to switch the view (details below).
- Browse the pages. In the history tabs, use the Previous and Next buttons to scroll through records — each page shows up to 10 entries.
If you type
.inspectwith no target and no name, the server warns: "Use .inspect or select a player." Just select someone or repeat with the name.
Everything the window shows
The window is split into three blocks: the header (character data), the gear paperdoll and the history (lower tabs).
Header — character data
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | Name of the inspected character |
| Clan | Clan name (empty if no clan) |
| Class | The character's current class |
| Level | Current level (shown as "Lv N") |
| Gear Score | Total equipment score |
| Create date | When the character was created |
| Server rank | Position on the overall ranking (or "-" if unranked) |
| Race rank | Position on the race ranking (or "-") |
| Kills/Deaths | PvP kills and deaths (kills/deaths format) |
Just below appear the four Elemental Spirits — Fire, Water, Wind and Earth — each with its level ("Lv N") and the experience percentage toward the next level. Unawakened spirits show as "Lv 0".
Gear paperdoll
Here you see every piece equipped by the player, with the icon, the enchant level and the quantity. The slots cover the full Essence set:
- Armor and weapon: helmet, chest, legs, gloves, boots, cloak and the hand(s) holding the weapon.
- Accessories: necklace, earrings, rings, belt and bracelets.
- Brooch and Jewels (Brooch Stones): the brooch and up to twelve socketed jewels.
- Talismans: up to twelve talismans.
- Agathions: the main agathion and the support ones.
- Hair and hair accessories.
- Dyes (Hennas/Tattoos): up to four dyes, each with its level.
This panel is exactly what makes the feature so valuable for comparing gear: you see the enchant piece by piece, not just the final number.
History tabs (lower section)
There are four tabs. The first three are paged lists; the fourth is a breakdown table.
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Obtained Item | Date, type and the obtained item — the log of important items the player got |
| Item Enchant | Date and the enchant content (e.g., "Enchanted [item] to +N") |
| Reached Level | Date and the level progression (e.g., "Lv X to Lv Y") |
| Gear Score | Gear Score breakdown by category |
In the Gear Score tab, instead of a paged list, a table appears with the score of each component:
| Category | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Total Gear Score | The sum of everything |
| Equipment | Points from gear |
| Relics | Points from relics |
| Relics Collection | Points from the relic collection |
| Aden Lab | Points from the Aden Lab |
| Ensoul | Points from ensoul (weapon souls) |
| Bless | Points from blessing (bless) |
This lets you understand where someone's power comes from — whether the high Gear Score is in gear, in relics or in ensoul.
Practical tips
- Use Gear Score as a compass. When planning your next upgrade, inspect someone a step above you and see which category separates you two the most.
- Look at the enchant, not just the piece. Two players with the same armor can be very different in strength — the enchant level matters.
- Learn the upgrade order. The Item Enchant tab shows where veterans invested first.
- Before a duel or PvP, a quick inspection helps you calibrate expectations from the opponent's jewels, talismans and elemental spirits.
- By name works at a distance. You don't need to be nearby:
.inspect Nameopens the window for any online player, no selection required.
Common mistakes and FAQ
- "Nothing opens when I type the command." Check that the Advanced Interface is active. Without it, the feature does not work.
- "It tells me to select a player." You used
.inspectwith no target and no name. Select someone or write the full name. - "It can't find the name." The target must be online and the name must be exact (case and spelling). If they logged off, there is nothing to inspect.
- "The pages won't advance." When the player has few records, there is only one page — the Next button stays disabled. That is normal.
- "Is the other player notified?" The window is yours alone and read-only; nothing is changed on the inspected character.
Closing
Inspect Player turns every top player into an open lesson in build-craft. Select, type .inspect, and study — gear, enchant, Gear Score and history, all in one window. It is the right tool to grow faster and enter every fight knowing what you're up against. See you in Aden.
